Our story

One tawa, one tandoor and forty-seven years of trucks pulling over

In 1978 Sardar Gurbachan Singh set up a charpai, an iron tawa and a clay tandoor at kilometre 47 of the Grand Trunk Road, and started feeding the drivers who stopped for the night. Parathas at dawn, dal on the coals all day, no menu — you ate what was hot.

His son Balwinder still lights the tandoor at five every morning. The tawa is the same one. There is a menu now, a courtyard of charpais, parking for sixty trucks and a WhatsApp number — but the dal is still the dal, and the butter is still churned in the back.

  • Parathas on desi ghee, white butter churned in-house
  • Dal makhani on the coals from 5 AM to close
  • Wheat, mustard greens and milk from farms within 20 km
  • Separate veg and non-veg kitchens and degchis
  • Truck & bus parking for 60, clean washrooms, prayer space
  • Order direct on WhatsApp — no aggregator commission

Why drivers stop here

What forty-seven years on the road taught us

Open 19 hours a day

Six in the morning to one at night, every day of the year. Trucks don't take holidays and neither does the tandoor.

Farm to tawa, 20 km

Wheat from Sonipat mandis, sarson from Ganaur fields, milk from Murthal dairies. Butter churned in the back every morning.

Made for the road

Sealed highway boxes, chaach in bottles, parathas that stay soft for six hours. Order ahead and pull in.

Direct, not through apps

Ordering here means no 25% commission, so the paratha stays ₹149 and the butter stays white.

I have driven Delhi–Ludhiana for eleven years and this is where I stop. Parathas at 5:30 AM, hot dal, no waiting, parking is easy. The lassi in the steel glass is the whole reason.

We booked two charpais for my father's 70th. Lanterns, blankets, unlimited rotis and the gajar halwa came hot from the kadhai. The kids fell asleep on the charpai. Perfect.

Sent our order on WhatsApp from Panipat, pulled in 25 minutes later and the highway box was waiting at the counter. Parathas were still soft at Chandigarh.
