The Chambers

Quiet counsel since 1998

Lex Virtue Chambers was founded in two rooms above a Connaught Place bookseller by Devraj Sahni, then a junior with an unfashionable habit: putting every opinion in writing before asking for a single rupee. The habit became a rule, the rule became a reputation, and the reputation built these chambers.

Today fourteen advocates and associates practise from the Inner Circle, appearing before the Supreme Court, the Delhi High Court, the district courts and arbitral tribunals across North India. We remain deliberately mid-sized — large enough to field a full bench of specialisms, small enough that a partner reads every file.

Art. 1

Everything in writing

Every matter opens with a written opinion and closes with a written account. If our advice changes, you receive the reasoning — on letterhead, not over the phone.

Art. 2

Fees fixed before work

The engagement letter states the fee, the stages and what each stage includes. In twenty-seven years, no client has discovered our charges from an invoice.

Art. 3

Mediation before war

We are paid for judgment, not for hours in court. Where settlement serves you better than victory, we will say so at the first conference — in writing.

One chambers, end to end

The partner who signs your first opinion remains your counsel through drafting, negotiation, trial and appeal. Files move between desks; clients never do.
