Extraction & Maceration
Every Nocturne begins at the perfume organ in the Rue de Sévigné atelier — three hundred and twelve raw materials arranged in tiers, worked only between midnight and dawn, when the nose is quietest and the city is not.
We buy whole materials, not fractions: orris rhizomes aged six years before milling, jasmine picked after nightfall so the indoles stay intact, ambergris tinctured in-house at three percent for a decade.
Night-picked flowers are processed within four hours; woods and resins are extracted slowly, at low heat, over weeks.
Each compound rests in the alcohol for a minimum of eight weeks in total darkness, racked and tasted weekly like a wine.
The extrait is chilled to minus five degrees, filtered once through paper, and hand-bottled in a single annual run of nine hundred flacons.
