Breathe in. The river does the rest.

A quiet ashram above the Ganga where classical Hatha, honest Ashtanga and deep rest are taught the old way — small circles, patient teachers, and the mountains keeping time.

Our Story

An ashram that keeps the old rhythm

Prana began in 2014 with one teacher, eleven borrowed mats and a rooftop above Tapovan where the Ganga is loud enough to set the pace of your breath. We have grown gently since — two practice halls, a sattvic kitchen, twelve river-view rooms — but the rhythm has not changed: rise with the sun, practise before the town wakes, rest before it sleeps.

We teach yoga as a complete discipline, not a workout. Asana is held alongside pranayama, meditation, yogic philosophy and Ayurvedic care, the way our teachers received it from their own. Whether you come for one sunrise class or a two-hundred-hour training, you are taught by name, adjusted by hand, and sent home with a practice you can keep.

  • 200-Hour Teacher Training registered school
  • Two Ganga-facing practice halls
  • In-house Ayurvedic doctor & therapy wing
  • Sattvic kitchen — breakfast after sadhana
  • Daily pranayama & meditation sits
  • Twelve simple river-view stay rooms

The Practices

Six ways to come home to your breath

Every practice at Prana is taught in small circles — never more than fourteen mats — so your teacher sees you, adjusts you, and learns your name by day two.

Hatha & Ashtanga Classes

Daily drop-in classes at sunrise, mid-morning and dusk. Classical Hatha holds you in postures long enough to listen; led Ashtanga primary series builds heat and discipline. All levels, fourteen mats maximum, adjustments always by consent.

Pranayama & Meditation

The quiet heart of the ashram. Ninety-minute sits that move from kapalabhati and nadi shodhana into silent meditation, taught progressively across a week so the breath becomes something you can return to anywhere.

200-hr Teacher Training

Our 200-Hour Teacher Training residential training: 24 days of asana, anatomy, philosophy, teaching methodology and karma yoga, with shared river-view rooms and three sattvic meals daily. Two intakes a month, twelve trainees each.

Sound Healing & Yoga Nidra

Evening sessions under the hall's low lamps: Himalayan singing bowls, chant and guided yoga nidra that carries you to the edge of sleep and leaves you there, wrung out and light. The Sunday session ends with the Ganga aarti walk.

The Pathways

Choose the depth of your practice

Four honest pathways, from a single sunrise class to a full month of sadhana. Every price includes GST, mats, props and herbal tea after practice.

Why Prana

Practice, held gently and taught seriously

Small circles, by design

Fourteen mats is our hard limit in every class. Your teacher sees your breath, knows your injuries, and adjusts you by hand — with consent, always.

The river sets the pace

Both practice halls face the Ganga. Sadhana begins at 6:00 AM with the water loud in the room — a metronome no playlist can match.

A complete discipline

Asana is a doorway, not the house. Pranayama, meditation, philosophy and Ayurvedic care are woven into every pathway, from drop-in to TTC.

Honest, inclusive pricing

Every price is printed, GST-inclusive, and the same for everyone. Mats, props and after-class herbal tea are never an extra line item.

The Teachers

Lineage you can feel in the room

Our four senior teachers carry over sixty years of combined practice — Sivananda, Ashtanga and classical Himalayan traditions, taught with warmth.

Student Stories

What the practice gave back

I came for a weekend retreat with a stiff back and a loud mind. I left with neither. Six months on, I still wake at six because my body asks to practise.

The 200-hour TTC rebuilt my practice from the floor up. Devraj ji corrected my downward dog on day one — nobody had bothered in eight years of gym yoga.

Dr. Kavita's fourteen-day Panchakarma was the first time a wellness program treated me as a patient, not a customer. My sleep is different. My skin is different.
