Hindustani vocal
Vocal — beginners
Swar, breath and the first ten raags' aroha-avaroha — the year of foundations everything rests on.
School of music · Pune
Hindustani vocal and instrumental teaching in the old way — small groups, weekly one-to-one time with your teacher, and a monthly baithak where every student performs to a listening room.
Serving Sadashiv Peth · Kothrud · Karve Nagar · Deccan Gymkhana

What we do
Monthly fees at stated group sizes; the first month includes a ₹200 listening session adjusted against your fee if you join. Instruments for class use are the school's; your own instrument, when you are ready for one, is bought by you at a shop of your choice — we advise, we do not sell.

Hindustani vocal
Swar, breath and the first ten raags' aroha-avaroha — the year of foundations everything rests on.

Hindustani vocal
Bandish, badhat and taan work with senior teachers, for students past the foundation years.

Hindustani vocal
Natyageet, abhang and bhajan — Pune's own repertoire, taught with its theatre history attached.

Instruments
From theka to kayda on the school's tablas; palti notebooks checked every week.

Instruments
Accompaniment first — the harmonium's real job — then solo repertoire for those who want it.

Instruments
Posture, mizrab and the slow patience of meend, on school sitars sized for the student.

Instruments
Breath control and the scale flutes before raag work — we lend the first three flutes.

Instruments
Film songs and chords for students who want music without the classical ladder — said plainly, taught well.

Children & exams
Rhymes into raags: clapping taal, singing sargam, and no exams until the child asks for them.

Children & exams
Syllabus polish for Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal exams, Prarambhik to Visharad. You register and pay the Mandal yourself; we prepare you.

Practice & baithaks
A quiet room with a tanpura and a tabla, bookable by any current student.

Practice & baithaks
First Sunday, floor seating, chai at the break. Students perform free; listening seats support the room.
Add what you need to your list and send it across — we reply with a firm quote and a slot. Nothing is charged from this page.
Who does the work
You are told who is on your file before you arrive, not after.

Founder & vocal guru
Leads the khayal students and the monthly baithak; every new student's listening session is with her

Tabla & taal faculty
Runs the tabla rooms and accompanies every baithak himself

Sitar & bansuri faculty
Keeps the instrument room — every school sitar and flute is tuned and sized by him
Proof
Music schools are rooms and habits. These are ours.

Before you ask
Vocal beginners or harmonium, honestly — both give you swar. Come for the ₹200 listening session first: we hear you hum, you hear a class in progress, and if we think you would be happier at a lighter-music class we say so before taking a fee.
No. The Gandharva Mahavidyalaya ladder is there for students who want a structured syllabus and a certificate with weight — many of our best students climb it, some never touch it. When you do take an exam, you register with the Mandal and pay them directly; our add-on is only the preparation.
Not at all — that is what the keyboard-and-guitar class is for, and we teach it without treating it as a lesser room. What we will not do is promise a reality-show audition or a playback career. We teach music; the industry is not ours to promise.
